THE VARIETAL: Viognier, pronounced (Vee-own-yay) is a grape varietal that is widely planted across the Rhöne region of Southern France.
It is a later ripening white varietal with bright aromatics, full body and minerality.
The Outsider returns brighter than ever! This Viognier was harvested in early September from the banks of the Sacramento river in Clarksburg, CA. The Grapes were gently pressed and the juice was immediately racked into a stainless steel tank to begin a low temperature, slow fermentation in order to unlock bright aromatics and retain crisp acidity. The wine was then transferred into 4 neutral french oak barrels to age for 5 months before being racked back into a stainless steel tank for bottling. The finished wine is brimming with fresh pineapple, honeysuckle and jasmine aromatics while tropical notes of fresh citrus, apricots and minerality dance along the palate, anchored by bright acidity and a light mouthfeel.
